THE ROLE

 

Project Controller works with Project Manager to ensure a project stays within budget and gets delivered on time. Help identify areas of improvement for project operations by closely monitoring a project's progress. Project Controller oversees a project's revenues and expenses to ensure it stays within budget.

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Common job duties for a project controller may include:

 

  • Establish and maintain a Portfolio Master Schedule including monitoring, status reporting and revisions as required.
  • Reviewing a project's deadlines and budget with the project manager.
  • Coordinating payments to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Oversee, identify plan deviations, and recommend resolution for project manager.
  • Create project progress reports and make recommendations for ways to improve the project's progress.
  • Analysing performance data to establish performance metrics.
  • Develop risk mitigations.
  • Handle and manage the intake, verification, and storage of documents.
  • Working closely with technical experts, project leads and project managers in planning, creating, and managing project schedules.
  • Maintain current and forecasted Cash Flow data when compared to projected Cash Flow.
  • Offering coaching and guidance to junior team members.
  • Represent the team as a key contract, liaising with project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Comparing ongoing project activities with the project management plan and project performance baseline.
  • Anticipate potential problems and recommend resolution for project manager.
  • Manage project controls team.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, a concentration in Construction Management, Engineering, Science or Business Administrator.
  • More than five years in a similar role.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Good analytical and planning skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Proficiency in the use of project scheduling software such as MS project is a requirement.
  • Good working ethics and ability to treat documents with confidentiality.
  • Some exposure to metallurgical processes desire.
  • Highly demonstrated ability in conceptual and practical planning skills
  • Strong working ability with MS Office (Excel, spreadsheets, project planners, charting etc.)
  • Experience in SAP preferred.
