  1. REPORTING STRUCTURE

 

Reports to:      General Manager, Nyrstar Clarksville

Supervises:     Sr. Safety Advisor, Safety Advisor, Sr. Environmental Advisor, Plant Nurse          

 

  1. THE ROLE

 

The role provides direction and guidance in relation to all external compliance with relation to health, safety, and environmental matters.  Manage incidents on site from initial response to post incident report and follow up.  This role is the head of the site’s Safety, Health & Environment department, and a member of the site management team.

 

  1. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Manage all regulatory compliance in relation to safety, health (including hygiene), and environmental matters.
  • Manage the site’s ISO certified management systems for Environment (ISO 14001), Health & Safety (ISO 45001), and Quality (ISO 9001).
  • Ensure regulatory and corporate EHS reporting is done accurately and on time.
  • Manage contractors in relation to plant security.
  • Manage relationships and participate in Nyrstar group programs and networks.
  • Manage annual group safety/health/environment audits and actions.
  • Monthly safety reporting for group/site (KPI tracking).
  • Manage site EJS communications plan.
  • Develop and deliver site EHS policies in line with group standards.
  • Develop site “knowledge base” in relation to OSHA/EPA/TDEC.
  • Manage site contractor safety requirements/documentation.
  • Manage site drug/alcohol testing requirements.
  • Manage site wellness programs.
  • Incident management from initial response to close out of all actions.
  • Manage site return to work strategy.
  • Maintain site involvement and visibility.

 

  1. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

 

  • High School Diploma required.  A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
  • At least five (5) years of safety leadership experience.
  • Experience working with regulators such as OSHA, DOT, and FRA.
