For our Zinc Smelter located in Clarksville, Tennessee we are currently seeking an Occupational Health Nurse

 

DEPARTMENT: SHEQ

 

REPORTS TO: SHEQ Manager

 

DIRECT REPORTS: None

 

FLSA: Salaried - Exempt

 

Overview of the role

 

The Role provides centralized support to the departments in the areas of health & safety.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Clinical Care:

  • Collaborate with SHEQ team members and our third-party services to provide site-specific plans to improve the work environment and prevent injuries through ergonomic evaluations.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care, evaluation and follow up for occupational illness and injuries.
  • Provide after-hours consultation as needed for case management of employees' medical care as a result of injury
  • Interface with local hospitals and emergency medical providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Offer return-to-work clearances for employees.
  • Perform required employee screenings and manage credentialing programs.
  • Deliver educational offerings to employees.

 

Medical Surveillance:

  • Conduct and manage required surveillance examinations.
  • Provide medical surveillance support for employees.
  • Perform health assessments, including audiometric exams, physical assessments, and selected tests.
  • Communicate to management employee fitness for work determinations.

 

Case Management:

  • Provide personal and work-related injury case management following state and company policies and guidelines.
  • Offer medical advice/input to site leadership on work-relatedness of injuries/illnesses.
  • Organize independent medical examinations as appropriate and in coordination with the TPA / insurance company.

 

Health Promotion Program:

  • Lead, promote and support employee wellness programs.

Medical Record and Administrative Tasks:

  • Ensure adequate clinical documentation of services provided.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as faxing, scanning, copying, clinic scheduling, medical waste management, and more.

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Experience

 

  • EMT or LPN, RN, or BSN degree and hold current license.
  • High School Diploma required, additional safety & health related training and certificates are a plus.
  • OSHA record keeping experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal workers compensation laws
  • Experience speaking in front of people in a classroom setting is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Power Point required.
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
