We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Reliability Engineer to join our Asset Management Team. If you are passionate about reliability engineering, thrive in a dynamic heavy industrial environment, and are ready to drive innovation within the Engineering sector, we want to hear from you!

About the Role:

Reporting to the Reliability and Planning Superintendent, you will be an integral member of our Asset Management Team, with a primary purpose to manage, lead and deliver the suite of capital projects at Nyrstar Hobart Smelter.

You will combine technical expertise, leadership and innovation to deliver engineering solutions that improve safety, reliability, productivity and operational excellence in a complex industrial environment.

Key Duties and Accountabilities

  • Develop and optimize plant asset condition plans and equipment maintenance strategies.
  • Implement asset management KPIs to foster continuous performance improvements.
  • Facilitate reviews and identification processes for critical equipment.
  • Perform failure mode analysis on key equipment.
  • Identify and initiate projects focused on improving plant safety and reliability.
  • Monitor performance metrics and address any deviations.
  • Provide technical and troubleshooting support to maintenance and operations teams.
  • Conduct thorough condition assessments of plant and equipment.
  • Minimize costs by identifying and eliminating non-value-adding processes.
  • Propose and execute cost-saving initiatives.
  • Reduce equipment maintenance expenses by creating value-driven maintenance strategies.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Training and experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Proven experience in both project and maintenance engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Resilience and the ability to perform under pressure in a demanding environment.
  • A proactive mindset and a strong drive for change implementation.
  • Expertise in analysing equipment data and identifying performance trends.
  • Experience with SAP (preferred).
  • Prior experience in the heavy industry sector (desired).
  • Supervisory experience leading maintenance teams (desired).
  • Experience facilitating RCA activities (desired).
