At Nyrstar, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Maintenance Planner – Electrical to join our Port Pirie team. In this key role, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating electrical maintenance tasks, ensuring materials and resources are secured while aligning with operational goals.

Reporting to the Maintenance Planning Leader, this is a residential role based in Port Pirie, South Australia, working a 5/2 roster. Relocation assistance will be provided for the successful candidate, as required.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
- Consolidate and create maintenance work orders from notifications, ensuring accurate documentation of all tasks.
- Develop detailed job plans with clear operations, resource allocation, and material procurement.
- Schedule at least 80% of maintenance team capacity (KPI: Hours Scheduled / Hours Available) and issue weekly schedules broken into daily tasks.
- Proactively update task lists, adjust maintenance frequencies, and keep maintenance systems accurate and up-to-date.
Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including the Electrical Department, Maintenance Team Leaders, Supervisors, and Superintendents, to ensure plans align with operational needs.
- Liaise with external suppliers and service providers to confirm materials, spare parts, and services are available for planned maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate necessary contractor documentation for the execution of maintenance tasks.
Systems Support & Standards:
- Maintain clean, accurate maintenance system records, removing outdated tasks and documenting completed work.
- Provide detailed weekly reports on incomplete tasks, “out of plan” activities, and schedule compliance (KPI: % Schedule Compliance).
- Utilize SAP (if applicable) or similar maintenance management systems for planning, scheduling, and reporting.
Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE):
- Ensure all plans and procedures reflect safety and environmental standards, contributing to a safe and healthy workplace.
- Take a proactive approach to hazard identification and elimination during planning processes.
About You
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- A trade certificate in Electrical or Mechanical fields (preferred).
- Proven experience in maintenance planning and scheduling within an industrial or heavy industry environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to deliver effective maintenance plans.
- Experience using SAP or a similar maintenance planning system.
- Intermediate to advanced computing skills (Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure while ensuring deadlines and targets are met.
- Prior exposure to mining, smelting, metals processing, or other heavy industry environments is highly desirable.
