Key Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership & Program Development:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee occupational hygiene strategies in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the development and review of occupational health policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring robust compliance with occupational health and safety laws and best practices.

 

Risk Management & Hazard Mitigation:

  • Manage workplace monitoring programs for hazardous substances, noise, dust, radiation, and other potential risks.
  • Identify and assess exposure risks, including chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic hazards.
  • Design and implement effective strategies for exposure control, including engineering and administrative controls, as well as personal protective equipment (PPE).

 

Technical Oversight & Compliance:

  • Verify the effectiveness of control systems and implement continuous improvements.
  • Manage stakeholder interactions with regulatory bodies, including SafeWork SA, to ensure full alignment with legislation and standards.

 

Training & Development:

  • Develop and deliver occupational hygiene training programs for employees, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of advancements in occupational hygiene practices, tools, and technologies, applying insights to improve organizational outcomes.

 

 

About You

 

To succeed in this leadership role, you’ll bring the following qualifications, experience, and skills:

 

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Science, Public Health, Chemistry, or a related field (a master’s degree is preferred).
  • Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH), or equivalent.
  • Significant experience (10+ years) in occupational hygiene or workplace health and safety, with demonstrated leadership in complex projects or programs.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Expertise in occupational hygiene monitoring techniques, such as air sampling, noise measurement, and ergonomic assessments.
  • Proficiency in exposure modeling, statistical analysis, and interpreting monitoring results.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, including OSHA, NIOSH, and ISO standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
