Reports To: Safety Superintendent

In this critical role, you will drive the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Safety Management System while fostering a strong safety culture across the site. Your ability to engage, collaborate, and lead will help us achieve world-class safety outcomes and ensure the wellbeing of our employees.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain site safety and business continuity manuals in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Identify system gaps against standards, regulations, and codes of practice; recommend and implement improvements.
  • Establish safety and business continuity KPIs and implement system audits to drive continuous improvement.
  • Proactively manage safety by identifying opportunities, implementing required safety processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Provide coaching and technical advice to site leaders on safety and business continuity systems.
  • Support training and development of staff in safe work practices, hazard identification, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an updated site risk register and conduct audits of high-risk activities in collaboration with operations teams.
  • Lead incident investigations, including ICAM processes, and support leaders in reporting and resolving safety issues.
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultation and engagement for safety communication and information sharing.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly, and annual safety reports on KPIs, objectives, and progress against required standards.
  • Analyze safety data to identify trends and enact improvement strategies.
  • Provide support for emergency response activities outside of regular working hours.

 

About You

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Greater than 5 years of demonstrated experience in a similar safety role.
  • A relevant Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • A strong knowledge of South Australian WHS legislation, codes of practice, and Australian Standards.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite (knowledge of RIMS and SAP advantageous).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for engaging and influencing stakeholders.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage your workload efficiently.
  • A commitment to safety and the ability to positively drive safety outcomes across the organization.
  • The ability to wear and maintain applicable personal protective equipment (safety glasses, boots, respirator, etc.).
