For our Corporate Office, based in Budel-Dorplein, we are seeking a Risk, Compliance & Control Manager , reporting to the General Counsel / CFO.

 

JOB SUMMARY
As a manager of Nyrstar’s Risk, Compliance & Control team, you will ensure that Nyrstar’s risk, compliance and control frameworks are robust, effective and up to date.

You will work closely with different departments, actively promoting root cause analysis methodology across the organisation, supporting the appropriate investigation of accidents and incidents, and escalation of risks through the organizational risk assessment and risk register processes. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the organization’s risk and compliance strategies, policies and procedures; monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of risk management and working closely with senior management to embed a culture of risk awareness and compliance across Nyrstar. You and your team will conduct regular internal control assessments and compliance audits to identify areas of weakness and opportunities for improvement. Providing a comprehensive education and training programme around risk, assessment and risk appetite, you will deliver regular high quality reports to directors and senior managers. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor industry trends and potential changes to regulation and/or policies and their impact on risk and compliance programs, monitoring and/or reporting;
  • Assist in major cross organizational projects and act as controls and compliance expert providing support and trainings to several stakeholders both on business and finance side;
  • Provide necessary support to senior management for improving Governance, Social and Sustainability (ESG) topics;
  • Ensuring the effective implementation of the organization’s compliance framework;
  • Roll-out compliance policies to the business as required;
  • Develop and deliver compliance-related training material and training plans;
  • Identifying and reporting of compliance risks, breaches and incidents within area of responsibility;
  • Organise and chair the Compliance Committee, Risk Committee;
  • Support risk owners and managers in identifying risks, controls and mitigation plans, through delivery of the annual Risk & Control Self Assessment (RCSA) plan;
  • Own the design, implementation, documentation, assessment and monitoring of Nyrstar’s internal control framework in order to ensure adequate controls to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes and business operations;
  • Execute, document and report any ad-hoc audits, investigations, or internal control reviews required by senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS, WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s / Master's Degree in Legal, Accounting, Finance/Economics field required.
  • 10+ years of previous work experience in business analysis, auditing, corporate governance, risk management or internal controls.
  • Understanding of internal controls (e.g. SOX & COSO) and experience in applying them in various business areas/functions.
  • Knowledge of legal compliance and corporate laws and regulations (globally).
  • Flexibility to adapt to an ever-evolving and dynamic work environment.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality & professionalism.
  • Project management skills.
  • Proficient in English, other languages would be a plus.
