Role: Mechanical Compliance Officer
Location: Port Pirie, South Australia

Are you a proactive, detail-driven professional with a passion for ensuring mechanical compliance in a dynamic industrial environment? Nyrstar Port Pirie is on the hunt for a Mechanical Compliance Officer to join our high-performing team and uphold the highest safety and compliance standards at one of Australia’s leading multi-metals smelters.

What’s the Role About?

As our Mechanical Compliance Officer, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring all our equipment meets statutory and legal requirements across Australian, South Australian, Corporate and Nyrstar standards. From monitoring existing equipment to overseeing new installations and modifications, you’ll be the go-to expert driving operational excellence and compliance.

Role Requirements:

  • Conduct audits and inspections, ensuring compliance and escalating issues where necessary.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key regulators and contractors like SafeWorkSA, OTR and external auditors.
  • Be the champion of compliance knowledge, keeping our systems and registers up to date.
  • Collaborate with plant teams to embed a culture of compliance, safety and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  •  Engineering qualifications (Trade, Diploma or Degree level) and significant experience in a heavy industrial environment.
  • A sharp eye for detail and knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems (e.g. CMMS, SAP) and compliance standards.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and influencing skills to drive results and inspire teams.
  • A commitment to safety and a passion for fostering a compliant and efficient workplace.
