Nyrstar Port Pirie is on the hunt for an Electrical Compliance Officer to join our high-performing team and uphold the highest safety and compliance standards at one of Australia’s leading multi-metals smelters.
About the role
As the Electrical Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring all equipment meets statutory and legal requirements in line with Australian, South Australian, corporate, and Nyrstar standards. Your responsibilities will range from monitoring existing equipment to overseeing new installations and modifications. You will be instrumental in supporting execution teams to achieve and maintain full compliance.
- Conduct audits and inspections, ensuring compliance and escalating issues where necessary.
- Maintain strong relationships with key regulators and contractors like Safe Work SA, OTR and external auditors.
- Be the champion of compliance knowledge, keeping our systems and registers up to date.
- Collaborate with plant teams to embed a culture of compliance, safety and continuous improvement.
About you:
Engineering qualifications (Trade, Diploma or Degree level) and significant experience in a heavy industrial environment.
- A sharp eye for detail and knowledge of computerised management systems (e.g. CMMS, SAP).
- Working knowledge of Australian standards with particular relation to electrical installations.
- A passion for continuous improvement and reducing total cost of compliance.
- Strong organisational, communication, and influencing skills to drive results and inspire teams.
- A commitment to safety and a passion for fostering a compliant and efficient workplace
