What’s the Role About?

In this key leadership position, you will oversee the safe and efficient operation of all electrical assets within the Smelter Department. You’ll lead a large electrical maintenance team and play a critical role in ensuring the availability, reliability, and safety of our electrical infrastructure, including HV substations, PLCs, VSDs and more. Reporting to the Maintenance Execution Manager, this role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by driving innovation, optimising performance and fostering a proactive safety culture.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing electrical maintenance team.
  • Design and implement maintenance strategies that optimise plant performance and reliability.
  • Oversee the maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure, including HV substations, LV/MV distribution systems, and safety control systems.
  • Provide leadership and support for capital projects and shutdowns, including resource planning and prioritisation.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives and improvements in maintenance practices.
  • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with site safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Investigate and report on incidents, and take proactive steps to eliminate hazards.
  • Manage budgets and provide monthly feedback on expenditure.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Electrical Trade Qualifications (required); Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (desirable).
  • 7-10 years of leadership experience in heavy industry, mining, or smelting.
  • Extensive knowledge of asset maintenance systems and processes.
