Overview of the role

 

 

We’re seeking a motivated Environmental Advisor to join our Port Pirie Environment team.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful environmental improvement and sustainability initiatives within our operations. In this role, you’ll provide expert advice on key environmental matters — including air and water quality, land management, and waste operations — while supporting continuous improvement across the site.

You’ll also play a hands-on role in a range of environmental management activities and projects, working collaboratively across departments to drive positive outcomes for both the business and the local community.

 

This role reports to the Principal Environmental Specialist and is based in Port Pirie, South Australia. It offers flexibility to live locally or work on a drive-in drive-out (DIDO) basis, with a 5/4 even-time, days-only roster.

Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate, as required.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Provide generalist environmental advice to operational areas
  • Work with the team to identify initiatives and projects to drive environmental performance and improvements
  • Contribute to the implementation of environmental management systems and practices
  • Collate environmental and analytical data to provide reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the development and implementation of effective monitoring tools and techniques
  • Undertake inspections, assist with and conduct investigations and identify actions to improve environmental outcomes

 

About you:

 

  • 3+ years environmental experience in heavy industry such as chemical/petrochemical, minerals processing, mining, shipping, transport or similar
  • Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, or related areas
  • Qualifications and/or on-the-job experience in air and water quality is highly advantageous
  • Good understanding of ISO4001 and regulatory requirements relating to environment
  • Competent in systems/database computer literacy
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data and provide reports
  • Ability to build relationships and identify opportunities for improvement
  • SA driving Licence
