Overview of the Role
The Finance Business Partner plays a critical role in driving key financial processes, including cost management, forecasting, budgeting, and month-end closing. This position actively supports decision-making by providing financial analyses, management reports, and guidance to operational departments. The role also focuses on supporting continuous improvement initiatives, assisting transactional activities, and fostering collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure financial governance and business performance alignment.
The role is based in Adelaide and/or Port Pirie, with direct reporting to the Manager of Finance, Adrian Gill.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial support and guidance for the Smelting and Finished Products departments.
- Manage the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes for key operational areas.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including cost reporting and reconciliations.
- Drive variance analysis of costs against the plan and collaborate with stakeholders to implement improvement initiatives.
- Prepare monthly variance analyses and financial commentary for finance reports.
- Coordinate cost review meetings and manage follow-up actions.
- Offer support and guidance to cost centre owners to ensure cost controls align with financial objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Operations Superintendents, Managers, and Procurement.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to ensure efficiency in financial processes.
- Perform transactional duties, including processing journal entries as required.
About You
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance (essential).
- CA/CPA certification or actively working towards achieving this (desirable).
Technical Skills
- 3-5 years of experience in financial and/or cost accounting (essential).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (essential).
- Familiarity with SAP or related ERP systems (desirable).
