We are seeking an Occupational Nurse to join our team at Nyrstar Port Pirie. This position plays a vital role in managing onsite medical processes, including pre-employment and periodic health assessments, lead-in-blood monitoring, health surveillance programs, and adherence to workplace health and safety regulations.
Location: Port Pirie, South Australia
Contract Type: 18 months – Limited Tenure
Reports To: Health Superintendent
Key Responsibilities
In this critical hands-on role, you will:
- Medical Examinations: Conduct comprehensive medical assessments for employees, including pre-employment, periodic, and post-incident assessments.
- Lead in Blood Monitoring: Administer and evaluate lead-in-blood testing and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for employees working in lead-exposed environments.
- Health Surveillance: Implement and manage health monitoring programs to mitigate workplace risks.
- Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate medical records, ensure privacy compliance, and stay updated with occupational health regulations.
About You
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring the following qualifications, experience, and skills:
Education & Certifications:
- Required: Diploma of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing.
- Nice to have: Relevant certifications in occupational health and safety.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Enrolled or Registered Nurse.
- Strong organisational, multitasking, and prioritisation abilities.
- A collaborative approach with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with workplace health and safety practices.

As part of this role, you will interact with a diverse range of stakeholders, including:
- Internal operational and support teams across site.
- External stakeholders, such as potential new hires undergoing pre-employment medical reviews.
