Overview of the role

 

Applications are now open for an Australian Logistics Coordinator to join the Nyrstar Australia Operations.

 

Reporting to the Australian Logistics and Chartering Manager, this role is responsible for the Australian shipping schedule for the Port Pirie (South Australia) and Hobart (Tasmania) Nyrstar sites. The supply chain landscape is a changing evolution - now is an exciting time to be a part of the change. Flexibility to work at the Port Pirie site and travel to Hobart as required is a must.

 

We are seeking a confident and experienced logistics/supply chain specialist who can change the mode of the supply chain, initiate new supply chain contracts and identify and implement project initiatives with a focus on efficiency and cost effectiveness. Can you demonstrate a hands on, proactive approach, strong attention to detail and ability to foresee what needs to happen, before its required? Ideally, this role will be based in Port Pirie, South Australia, with travel to Hobart, Tasmania as required. Residential location of Port Pirie or Adelaide can be negotiated for the right candidate.  Relocation support may be provided if relocating to Port Pirie.

 

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Manage the Nyrstar Australia shipping schedule
  • Ensure all logistic service providers contract KPI’s and performance measures are met
  • Identify areas of improvement in contracts to ensure best industry practice
  • Liaise with site managers and superintendents, contract service providers and Nyrstar Sales & Marketing corporate division to ensure continuity and customer requirements are met
  • Provide visibility on all relevant supply chains of Port Pirie (primarily) and Hobart, including metal movements and dry bulk shipping

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the shipping or supply chain industry
  • Tertiary education in logistics, supply chain or similar is adventageous
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Demonstrated ability to build sustainable relationships
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and use databases and systems
  • Professional communication skills across all levels of business
