Key Responsibilities
- Strengthen Safety Processes: Play an instrumental role in critical WHS processes such as incident investigations, ICAM/5Why facilitation, audits, and task compliance.
- Strategic Oversight: Spearhead the integration and continuous improvement of the Nyrstar Safety Management System, ensuring alignment with Australian WHS standards and industry best practices.
- Mentor and Empower: Coach frontline safety advisors and CHESS personnel to develop technical expertise and enhance workplace safety ownership.
- Innovate for Transformation: Develop cutting-edge safety programs and initiatives to foster cultural change and ensure sustainable safety practices.
- Engage with Stakeholders: Build robust partnerships with internal teams and external agencies, including regulatory bodies and consultants, to drive safety excellence.
- High-Value Support: Lead the application of key safety insights and metrics to deliver targeted training, improve incident response, and address high-priority risks.
About You
Qualification
- Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety or equivalent (required).
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or other advanced certification (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree in WHS or related field (preferred).
- Certification as a Lead Investigator (ICAM) (required).
Technical Skills
- 10+ years of health and safety experience in heavy industry environments.
- Ideally, experience of working in a Major Hazard Facility (MHF).
- Proven track record in implementing safety transformations and culture-shifting programs.
- Extensive experience managing contractor and material safety risks.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities across all organisational levels.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- High proficiency with WHS software systems, MS Office Suite, and Australian WHS standards.
