Nyrstar is a leading Multi-Metals processing company based in Port Pirie, South Australia, committed to sustainable and responsible operations in the mining and metal production industry.  

 

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Environmental Advisor to join the Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Department. Reporting to Principal Environmental Advisor you will be overseeing the regulatory compliance and reporting, completing inspections and ensuring compliance with Nyrstar management plans and procedures. You will also champion environmental awareness across the site, fostering a culture of compliance and sustainability. 

This is a residential role, based in Port Pirie, South Australia on a 5/4 12-hour shift roster. Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate if required. 

 

 

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Ensure compliance with license conditions. 

  • Collate environmental/scientific data and prepare reports for both internal and external stakeholders.  

  • Provide day-to-day environmental support and advice to site operations. 

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of environmental management systems and practices. 

  • Develop and deliver initiative around waste, water and air quality. 

  • Oversee the preparation of National Pollutant Inventory (NPI), National Greenhouse and Energy (NGER)and Clean Energy Regulator (CER) reporting. 

  • Carryout inspections, conduct investigation and take appropriate action. 

  • Mentor and support other team members.  

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experiences: 

 

  • 5+ years related environmental experience in industry such as chemical/petrochemical, mining, minerals processing, shipping, transport or similar. 

  • Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, or related engineering field. 

  • Experience in NPI, NGER and CER reporting.  

  • Experience in waste management and tracking. 

  • Demonstrated people leadership experience. 

  • Competency in systems/database computer literacy. 

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data and provide reports.
