Reports To: Capital Projects Manager

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Plan, direct, and control the day-to-day operations and resources of construction projects.
  • Manage contractor activities and monitor performance against key safety, budget, and efficiency metrics.
  • Conduct site visits to inspect ongoing work, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and enforce building standards.
  • Report and address safety events or incidents in accordance with site policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identify potential hazards and eliminate risks through comprehensive project risk assessments.
  • Arrange for the delivery of materials/equipment and coordinate the work of contractors and project teams.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Prepare and issue work permits and manage project documentation.
  • Coordinate construction activities during shutdowns and SIMOPS environments to ensure safe and efficient execution.
  • Develop and review construction methodologies, work packs, and workfront plans to support project execution.
  • Perform regular workfront safety inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Monitor project progress, validate contractor timesheets, and report construction status to project management.
  • Participate in contractor evaluations, construction planning meetings, and project progress reviews.
  • Coordinate material availability, site access, and equipment readiness to minimize construction delays.
  • Ensure all construction records, permits, inspections, and handover documentation are accurately maintained.

About You

 

To succeed in this leadership role, you’ll bring the following qualifications, experience, and skills:

 

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Project Coordinator or a similar role in construction projects.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (WH&S).
  • Trade background.
  • Frontline Management experience.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, shutdown activities, and site-based construction works.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety regulations, permits, and risk management practices.
  • Experience with SIMOPS coordination, workfront planning, and construction work packs is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Experience in industrial, brownfield, or operational plant environments is preferred
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills across contractors and project teams.

  • Review supplier construction statement and work with them to develop realistic ones
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, workfront coordination, and shutdown execution activities.
  • Ability to prioritize safety while maintaining project schedules and productivity targets.
  • Competent in reviewing construction methodologies, permits, risk assessments, and work packs.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced operational and brownfield environments
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in construction reporting, progress tracking, and contractor performance monitoring.
