Overview of the Role

In this critical role, you will be responsible for delivering safety programs, investigating incidents, conducting thorough risk assessments, and building a robust safety culture. Key Responsibilities
Coordination & Communication:
- Support frontline teams to identify and manage workplace hazards. Recommend mitigation strategies and corrective actions to reduce risks.
- Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes. Prepare and submit detailed reports with recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and deliver inductions and other safety training programs to educate employees and contractors. Conduct toolbox talks, and ongoing training related to workplace safety.
- Perform regular site inspections to identify safety hazards and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Document findings and follow up to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Strategy, Policy & Planning:
- Act as a safety role model by fostering a culture of safety and encouraging proactive employee involvement. Engage with employees, management, and contractors to build awareness about the importance of workplace safety.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to occupational health and safety laws, standards, and company policies. Ensure safety procedures are accessible and understood by all employees.
Administration
- Monitor and manage accurate and up-to-date records inspections, incidents, and audits.
- Track and analyse trends in safety performance, creating reports and presenting data to frontline teams. Use analytics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety programs.
About You
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in safety advisory roles (preferably in heavy industry or high-risk environments).
- Qualifications in Cert IV in Occupational Health & Safety (mandatory).
- Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and high-risk areas such as Major Hazard Facilities (MHFs).
- Demonstrated ability to influence and build positive relationships across different levels within an organization.
- Well-developed investigation and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (RIMS and SAP highly desirable).
- The ability to adapt to high-risk environments, including wearing and maintaining PPE such as safety glasses, boots, hard hats, and respirators.
