Nyrstar Hobart is a large scale zinc smelter located on Hobart's River Derwent, only a few kilometres from the Tasmanian capital's charming and cosmopolitan city centre.

This is a rare opportunity to work on site in the resources industry, in a capital city location.

THE ROLE

The Maintenance Scheduler serves a vital function in the Asset Management structure supporting the performance of maintenance activities undertaken on site. Schedulers are responsible for coordinating and creating an integrated weekly schedule for site maintenance activities to maximise equipment availability and reliability while meeting statutory obligations and site policies. You will be required to develop and implement strategies that lead to a continuous improvement in maintenance performance across the Departments.

Key Duties and Accountabilities:

• Ensuring safety, health, and environmental compliance
• Planning, prioritising and scheduling to maximise plant performance
• Assisting with plans for long-term equipment availability and reliability
• Training and support in the effective use of the work order system
• Promoting continuous improvement strategies in maintenance performance

To be successful in this position you need to have: 

• Trade qualification in a relevant field
• Sound computer and microsoft office skills
• Excellent problem-solving abilities coupled with strong analytical skills
• Clear and effective communication skills, with an ability to influence
• Capacity to perform well under pressure and thrive in a demanding environment
• Experience with sap highly regarded
• Experience with cost management and spreadsheets is desirable
• Ability to convey new ideas and technical information in a manner which is easily understood
• Experience in coordinating and scheduling activities
• Ability to work autonomously in a self-directed manner
