About the role:

 

 The Control Systems (OT) team is responsible for maintaining the OT systems and the deployment of systems supporting the functional demands presented by the company. This role is responsible for ensuring the operation of OT equipment functionality and supporting the design and implementation of longer-term initiatives, while also providing day-today technical advice, problem solving and support for the Sites Process Control systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Safety, Health & Environment:

  • Proactively looking out for your own safety and that of others when at work
  • Identifying, reporting, and assisting in the control of safety and environmental hazards
  • Participating in review of risks and their associated controls
  • Complying with Nyrstar safety and environmental standards and procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Contribute to the provision of a safe and healthy workplace by ensuring all technical/operational plans, procedures and process changes incorporate the requirements of all Nyrstar safety and environmental policies and practices.
  • Support SHEQ department in delivering safety programs
  • Provide feedback to the SHEQ department where procedures & processes are not being adhered to.

 

Function/ Production:

  • Support Definition of process control equipment performance requirements in relation to Site standards.
  • Support Development of process control solutions to meet Production and Assets Management requirements.
  • Support Scoping, Development and Management of OT projects.
  • Hardware Lifecycle planning and standardization.
  • Provides support to work teams and tradespeople and other professional staff through the provision of OT Technical advice.
  • Will be available to provide afterhours Control Systems support as required.
  • Ensures the long-term integrity of the process control network by actively managing key equipment strategies.
  • Correct and consistent application of appropriate discipline or Nyrstar

Programming and HMI standards.

  • Ensures adequate Change Control and Risk Assessment processes are in place prior to any OT systems modifications or installations.
  • Assist in managing OT contractors as required.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of both Nyrstar and key external standards particular to discipline.
  • Participates in project design reviews to ensure consistency with required business outcomes.
  • Facilitate and monitor spare parts needs to ensure spares are available to support production.
  • Minimise costs by identifying and eliminating non-value adding work processes and waste
  • Provide support to the Engineering organization to develop and implement projects that have dependencies on OT

 

Education & Qualifications

 

Essential:

  • Relevant Trade Qualification, Diploma or Degree.
  • Certification in the use and application of applicable PLCs and SCADA software used at site.

Desirable:

  • Electrical/Instrumentation qualification.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCES, & ABILITIES

 

Essential:

  • Min of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in PLC, DCS, SCADA maintenance and knowledge of site-specific PLCs required.
  • Aptitude for programming
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong client focus
  • Strong time management & organisational skills - able to prioritise & multitask.

 

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Experience in Ladder Logic and/or Function Block programming.
  • Experience in HMI design and development
  • Good understanding of how the site works from a process perspective.
