We are currently seeking a Senior Plant Mechanical Engineer to elevate our Primary Smelting Maintenance Team. About the Role:
As a Senior Plant Mechanical Engineer, you will be the cornerstone of our engineering projects, enhancing plant performance, reliability, and safety. Your expertise will be crucial in optimising mechanical systems and providing the engineering backbone for the Primary Smelter.
Reporting to the Superintendent Mechanical Maintenance, this is a residential role based in Port Pirie, South Australia on a 5/2 roster. Relocation support will be provided if required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Spearhead mechanical engineering projects from feasibility studies to commissioning
- Optimize the efficiency and reliability of mechanical systems
- Offer technical support for troubleshooting and maintenance
- Uphold compliance with mechanical standards and foster a safety-first culture
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
- Engage with cross-functional teams to support plant initiatives
- Document and report engineering processes, and prepare comprehensive Scopes of Work
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years experience in mechanical engineering within heavy industry
- Experience in pyrometallurgy plant highly regarded
- Deep understanding of mechanical systems such as pumps, conveyors, pressurized systems and cranes
- Expertise in AutoCAD Mechanical and other mechanical design software
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Proven capability in managing end-to-end mechanical engineering projects
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making prowess
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering and Metallurgical team
