Nyrstar Hobart is a large scale zinc smelter located on Hobart's River Derwent, only a few kilometres from the Tasmanian capital's charming and cosmopolitan city centre. This is a rare opportunity to work on site in the resources industry, in a capital city location.
About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Contractor Coordinator Team Leader to join our Asset Management Department. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you'll ensure projects are delivered on scope, on budget, and in compliance with safety, environmental, and legislative standards. With a sharp eye on contractor performance, you'll optimize resources to minimize downtime, boost equipment availability, and drive maintenance success – all while ensuring quality and value for money.

Key Duties and accountabilities:
- Providing leadership in their Area of Responsibility to effectively manage the safety and wellbeing of Contractors
- Defining and delivering effective work scopes within monthly budget targets.
- Ensuring compliance with Nyrstar policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Managing contractor performance and reporting on key KPIs.
- Identifying and addressing training shortfalls for contractors.
- Evaluating whether work can be completed internally before outsourcing.
- Overseeing all aspects of contractor management, including dispute resolution, cost control, and resource planning.
To be successful in this position, you will need to have;
- Relevant trade qualification (desirable).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and network.
- Be prepared to participate in site-wide maintenance activities.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and lead effective tasks/projects.
- Ability to work to tight timeframes and complex situations.
- Ability to think creatively to develop innovative ways to solve problems.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft office suite, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
- SAP experience highly regarded
