About The Role

We are looking for an experience leader to join our Asset Management team at Nyrstar Hobart. As the Mechanical Team Leader your main responsibility will be to lead a small team of mechanical maintainers and apprentices in effectiveley maintaining the site's mechanical infrastructure.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure the successful execution of the maintenance plan for a production department
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the applicable standards
  • Monitor that all compliance inspections and testing are conducted and documented
  • Contribute to weekly planning and shutdown plans
  • Lead from the front and provide support to your team when necessary

 

About you:

  • Proven experience in a Supervisory role or similar in a heavy industrial environment
  • Demonstrated high level of safety behaviour
  • Trade Qualificaiton (Mechanical Maintenance)
  • High level of organisational and planning skills, as well as excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in SAP (desirable)
  • Ability to build strong customer focus between maintenance and operating departments.
  • Strong fault finding and decision making skills

Nyrstar Hobart is a large scale zinc smelter located on Hobart's River Derwent, only a few kilometres from the Tasmanian capital's charming and cosmopolitan city centre. The facility uses the RLE process for zinc production. Hobart's key products are SHG zinc, die cast alloys and continuous galvanising grad (CGG) alloys. In addition, the site produces by-products of cadmium, copper sulphate, paragoethite, lead sulphate, leach concentrate and sulphuric acid.

This is a rare opportunity to work on site in the resources industry, in a capital city location.
