We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to drive procurement excellence at our Hobart site. In this role, you’ll source goods and services, manage supplier relationships, and improve procurement processes to support smooth operations. What you’ll do:
- Procure goods and services to support site operations using appropriate systems and tools, including creating and managing purchase orders.
- Conduct quotes and tender processes (RFT/RFP/EOI), evaluate results, and select suppliers to meet operational needs.
- Identify and implement process improvements, such as increasing automation, reducing transactional volumes, and cataloging repetitive purchases.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery commitments are upheld.
- Manage compliance with procurement policies and drive e-procurement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
- Use SAP or other ERP systems for purchasing activities and generate reports to identify trends, cost savings, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams to address procurement challenges, support inventory management, and resolve invoice or supply issues efficiently.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, ideally within resources, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems, combined with strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with suppliers and internal teams effectively.
- A strong analytical mindset to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions in a cost-effective way.
- A proactive approach to building supplier relationships and driving continuous improvement in procurement processes.
- Experience with SAP Ariba vendor module and basic contract administration beneficial
